This may not be news to some of you that follow “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” religiously, but it has been confirmed that troubled hero—Mike Peterson (played by J. August Richards, right)—will be introduced as none other than the infamous Deathlok!
In the last episode (Spoiler Alert!), Mike Richards (J. August Richards) attempts to save Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) from an explosion and suffers the worst of it himself. He later wakes up with a missing leg, severe burns, and some fresh Centipede installments courtesy of Project Centipede!
For those of you that don’t know, Deathlok (left) was originally introduced as a corpse–Luther Manning–reanimated from the dead in an alternate future (the “future” in this case being the year 1999) by Simon Ryker – head of Roxxon Oil. Originally, his main program forced him to obey Ryker but as Manning’s emotions began to resurface, he was able to fight this program and devote himself to ruining his “father.”
Since then, numerous other people have donned the name of Deathlok with slightly different back stories including John Kelly, Michael Collins, and sometimes Deathlok was just a robot (sometimes a whole army).
“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” will return next week and clue us in on how they’ll be bringing Deathlok to the small screen. The real question is, which Deathlok character is this origin story going to be based off of – Luther Manning, Michael Collins, or are they doing something completely different?
Needless to say, all of us here at Dorkaholics will be tuning in on the next episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.l.D this Tuesday to find out!
