DOVER, NJ – August 19, 2019 – Another new addition to The Kubert School faculty is Lisa Y. Wu. She will be teaching at the world-famous cartooning school starting in the 2019-20 school year.

She is one of the first women to graduate from The Citadel, the prestigious Military College of South Carolina, with a Bachelor’s degree in English. Lisa went on to earn her Masters of Arts in Teaching from the Citadel Graduate and Professional Studies program, specializing in Gifted and Talented Education. She then went on to teach at Trident Technical College and nationally-rated Buist Academy for Advanced Studies.

Lisa is experienced in community outreach, working with diverse organizations and leveraging marketing strategies to maximize brand awareness. Lisa previously utilized her skills to impact audience and sales growth as Director of Retailer Relations at AfterShock Comics and was highlighted in PreviewsWorld’s “Women in Comics” feature. Currently, Lisa is the VP, Sales, Marketing & Publicity for indie publisher A Wave Blue World. Lisa is also working on her MBA at Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business.

The Kubert School’s faculty consists of working professionals in the various fields of cartooning, illustration, design and animation. Besides Lisa Y. Wu, other artists that The Kubert School also employs as instructors are Lee Weeks (BATMAN), Kim DeMulder (SWAMP THING), Jan Duursema (STAR WARS), Tom Mandrake (THE SPECTRE), Fernando Ruiz (ARCHIE), and Giovanni Valletta (JOHN WICK).

The Kubert School was founded by award-winning cartoonist Joe Kubert (HAWKMAN, SGT. ROCK) in 1976. It is a fully accredited, 3-year vocational school, which is highly respected worldwide.

Well-known JKS alumni who are working professionals include Amanda Conner (POWER GIRL, VAMPIRELLA). Jenny Frison (WONDER WOMAN, RED SONJA). Anna-Maria Cool (WIZARD OF OZ, BARBIE), Derek Drymon (SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS), Brandon Vietti (YOUNG JUSTICE, THE BATMAN), David Nakayama (WITCHBLADE, CITY OF HEROES), Adam Kubert (SPIDER-MAN, CAPT. AMERICA), and Andy Kubert (BATMAN, SUPERMAN).
