Toronto-based comic book artist Marcus To has worked for Aspen Comics, Boom! Studios, DC Comics, IDW Publishing, and currently Marvel Comics.
I first discovered To when he worked on Red Robin at DC Comics, illustrating the stories of one of my favorite characters, Tim Drake.
His editor at the time, Michael Marts, said of him, “Marcus’s energetic and dynamic art style is the perfect match for Chris Yost’s fast-paced writing style. We’re extremely excited to have Marcus on board as a Bat-team regular.”
He is currently at Marvel Comics working on titles such as Excalibur and Age of X-Man: Nextgen. However, if you visit his Instagram, you will find most of his posted commissions are of DC Comics characters. When To worked on Red Robin, he brought readers to the DC Universe with a lens that made as well-detailed as his finely articulated art lines juxtaposed with characters that came off as the page as strong. And with each issue he worked on, the assigned colorist was able to make that world pop with the right choices that created interpretations of the characters that anyone could say – “that’s exactly how I imagined that character.”
