Netflix has shared new photos of Fire Nation characters from their upcoming live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. With what they achieved with One Piece and what is to come with Yu Yu Hakusho, I’m excited to see their success with Avatar.
The new image of Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko shows him in a very solemn moment as he looks away seemingly alone, a contrast to the fiery and eager combatant that is to be expected from someone hunting the Avatar.
This first look at Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, really captures his regal qualities, despite the darker traits that are sure to be revealed later on in the series.
There is a warmth to Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as General Iroh, as one can feel this unconditional kindness radiating from him.
After his performance in Industry on HBO, it’s hard to think of Ken Leung as anything less than a cold, cutthroat boss in the corporate world, but that seems to translate well to his role as Commander Zhao.
Fitting with Daniel Dae Kim’s Ozai image, this look at Elizabeth Yu as Princess Azula matches in terms of demeanor from the confidence to this inherent pride as a member of Fire Nation royalty.
Netflix’s adaptation of The Last Airbender is premiering sometime in 2024 with 8 one-hour episodes.
Synopsis: The series will be an authentic adaptation of the award-winning and beloved Nickelodeon animated series AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER reimagined as a live-action adventure. Albert Kim (Sleepy Hollow, Nikita) serves as showrunner, executive producer, and writer. Alongside Kim, Rideback’s Dan Lin (The Lego Movie, Aladdin) and Lindsey Liberatore (Walker) serve as executive producers as well as Michael Goi (Swamp Thing, American Horror Story). Goi, Roseanne Liang (also a co-executive producer), Jabbar Raisani and Jet Wilkinson direct.
