Deli Boys: Tan France Joins in First Scripted Guest Star Role

by Neil Bui

Renowned fashion designer and television personality Tan France (Queer Eye) is doing a career-first as he is announced to be making his first scripted guest star role in the upcoming series, Deli Boys. The 30-minute comedy series stars Asif Ali and Saagar Shaikh as brothers Mir and Raj who lose everything after their convenience store titan father passes away, and must then face his secret life of crime as they try to take his place in the criminal underworld. France will guest star as Zubair, a British Pakistani South London gang leader described as “smart, intimidating, and dressed to kill.”

Outside of Queer Eye, Tan has shared his personal story growing up in a South Asian Muslim household to becoming a global style icon in his New York Times bestselling memoir “Naturally Tan.” He’s also explored colorism in the BBC documentary Beauty and the Bleach, which sparked conversations about identity and representation. And most recently, he has launched his own production company, French Tuck Media, which focuses on authentic storytelling that amplifies diverse stories.

It’s exciting to see a champion for diversity and representation such as Tan take on new roles and continue to inspire audiences with his passion, wit, and commitment to individuality.

He’s also expanded into live events as he co-hosted the 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards Official Pre-Show in February 2024 alongside Elaine Welteroth which streamed live on Netflix, YouTube, and TikTok. The two of them interviewed nominees and highlighted the evening’s top fashion, marking Netflix’s first live awards show.
