That gravelly voiced, well-dressed killer is back. His name is John Wick if you forgot. And the trailer for his next film, John Wick: Chapter 4, is out.
Continuing from where we last saw him in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, he’s on a mission to take down the High Table, the council of crime bosses from the world’s most powerful criminal organizations.
Consistent throughout the trailer, is crisp cinematography that is all the more beautifully vibrant in contrast to the dark shadows of its predominantly night-based scenes.
Once again, he’s reeled into a life-or-death situation that involves skilled combat against foes in numbers but this time it appears his journey will ultimately take him to France.
Throughout the trailer, we see new faces to the John Wick franchise, but familiar names amongst Dorkaholics: Donnie Yen, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Rina Sawayama.
Yen’s character is referred to as a friend by Wick, yet we find them fighting one-on-one.
However, Yen can also be seen fighting against Sanada, which begs the question if the idea of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” will mean that Wick will have an ally in Sanada’s character (which wouldn’t be the first time for a Keanu Reeves and Hiroyuki Sanada team up for those who watched 47 Ronin).
Sawayama will be making her acting debut in this film, and she appears to be playing a character within the same organization as Sanada’s character, which means similarly there will be a chance for her to fight alongside Wick.
All will be revealed in due time when John Wick: Chapter 4 arrives in theaters March 24, 2023.
