Following Civil War 2, Marvel Comics’ next major event is Secret Empire.
The world has suffered the loss of heroes such as Bruce Banner (the big, mean, green Incredible Hulk) and James Rhodes (the reliable War Machine), Tony Stark is comatose but at least he has passed on the Iron Man role to the brilliant teenager in college Riri Williams.
And unknown to the masses, Captain America is actually an agent for Hydra, the very threat he has been publicly fighting against since WWII. Not to go into too much detail behind how this happened, but this happened after the last major change to Steve Rogers – where his super soldier serum was unneutralized after the powers were lost and he aged, which allowed for Sam Wilson (Falcon) to become Captain America.
