Netflix’s hit series Money Heist / La Casa de Papel has cultivated a massive following around the world as audiences followed the Professor and the crew as they prepared and executed the greatest heists in Spain.
And now the series will find new life as a Korean adaptation produced by BH Entertainment and Zium Content titled Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area set to premiere June 24th on Netflix.
This remake will take place in a fictional setting that the title alludes to, a joint economic area between North and South Korea.
Cast members to take note of include Park Hae-soo who will be playing Berlin (the Professor’s brother in the original series) and will be recognized for his role as Cho Sang-woo in Squid Game, as well as Kim Yunjin who will be playing Seon Woojin (possibly a new character) and played Sun on Lost.
With the series set against the possibility of reunification in the Korean Peninsula, it’s clear that audiences can expect the same life-threatening stakes and edge-of-the-seat suspense that Money Heist is known for.
It will also be interesting to see what new elements will be brought in through the Korean creatives working on this remake.
Catch Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area on Netflix starting June 24, 2022.
