It’s been about two weeks since Niantic’s update for Pokémon Go to include creatures from the Johto region – such as Cyndaquil, Umbreon, and especially Tyrogue. As fans know, Tyrogue is a baby Pokémon who can end up evolving into the classic Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan, or the new Hitmontop.
Trainers must be wondering if there is some method for facilitating this Pokémon’s evolution such as with Eevee and nicknames in order to obtain a Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon, Umbreon, or Espeon. Unfortunately, there is not. But there is a way to determine which evolution yours will undergo, so by using this tactic, it is possible to reduce wasting time, Pokéballs, and candy on training Tyrogues to unwanted evolutions.
The trick is to appraise your Tyrogue with your team leader. Having the highest stat as attack will result in a Hitmonlee, highest stat as defense will result in a Hitmonchan, and highest stat as stamina (HP) is how you obtain a Hitmontop. It’s very similar to the handheld games, where leveling up a Tyrogue to level 20 can get you a Hitmonlee if attack is higher than defense, Hitmonchan if defense is higher than attack, or Hitmontop if attack is equal to defense.
Keep calm and train on, Team Dorks!
