The Academy of Science Fiction Fantasy & Horror Films (-breathe-)has recently released their list of nominations for this years’ 40th Anniversary Saturn Awards. This year, two new categories have been added to the roster as a way to adapt to changing times: “Best Comic-to-Film Motion Pictures” and Best Performance by a Younger Actor in a Television Series.”
Some of the biggest contenders this year are Alfonso Cuaron’s “Gravity” and Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.” Both films received a whopping 8 nominations!
Here are some categories I’m personally keeping my eyes on:
BEST COMIC-TO-FILM MOTION PICTURE
– IRON MAN 3 (MARVEL/WALT DISNEY)
– MAN OF STEEL (WARNER BROS.)
– THOR: THE DARK WORLD (MARVEL/WALT DISNEY)
– THE WOLVERINE (20TH CENTURY FOX)
BEST SCIENCE FICTION FILM
– ENDER’s GAME (SUMMIT /LIONSGATE)
– GRAVITY (WARNER BROS.)
– THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE (LIONSGATE)
– PACIFIC RIM (WARNER BROS.)
– RIDDICK (UNIVERSAL PICTURES)
– STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS (PARAMOUNT PICTURES)
Quick Note: I’m completely excited and could not be happier for TNT’s Falling Skies. This wonderful show has been one of my favorite sci-fi shows as of late and has seriously been underrated for awhile now. I NEED MORE OF MY FRIENDS TO WATCH THIS SHOW. Either that, or I need new friends.
