I’ve compiled a couple of uplifting quotes from comics, movies, and anime that have really helped me focus on the positive things in life. If you haven’t been read my last personal post, then you might not know that I have been going through some complicated and unfortunate circumstances in the last few days.
Happiness
“A long time ago, Nunally, Suzaku, and I talked about something. We wondered what happiness would look like if we could give it a physical form. If I’m not mistaken, I think it was Suzaku that said that the shape of happiness might resemble glass. His reasoning made sense. He said that even though you don’t usually notice it, it’s still definitely there. You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light. I doubt that anything else could argue its own existence more eloquently.”
― Lelouch Vi Britannia, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 Episode 7.
Love
“It only feels like you’re alone, Jason. But that’s not true. Keep love in your heart and all things are possible.”
— Leslie Thompkins in Red Hood and the Outlaws #0 (September 2012) by Scott Lobdell
Tragedy
“Everyone experiences tragedy. Tim. Bruce. You and me. It’s not about the city. It’s about how you choose to see the world. Everything else is just an excuse.”
— Black Bat in Batman: Gates of Gotham #4 (October 2011) by Scott Snyder, Kyle Higgins, Ryan Parrott
Heroism
“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.”
— Christopher Reeve, known for his portrayal of Superman
Humanity
“What makes me stronger is my humanity – the people that love me and the people I love.”
— Scott Snyder, Batman writer
Courage
“You know, sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it.”
— Benjamin Mee, We Bought a Zoo
I hope that after reading this, at least one of these uplifting quotes resonates with you and brings some additional form of positivity to your life as they have all done for me.
