An all-new dark Korean drama by the name Vigilante is coming to Hulu on November 8, 2023. The 8-episode series will focus on a Kim Jiyong who grows up to exact revenge following the light sentence his mother’s killer is given despite a history of violence.
Vigilate is based on the Korean webtoon of the same name by Kim Kyusam and CRG, and sees Jiyong driven by a thirst for revenge and weary of seeing the legal system fail by allowing repeat offenders to be set free. He spends his formative years becoming a star student at the police academy, both a martial arts master and bookish academy.
With inside knowledge to pursue the non-repentant repeat offenders, he starts to deliver his own violent form of justice (Korean Batman). As the media starts to cover his efforts, Jiyong must play a cat and mouse game in order to avoid being caught but also continue his pursuits.
Cast:
- Nam Joohyuk (Start-Up, Twenty Five Twenty-One) as the vengeful vigilante Kim Jiyong
- Yoo Jitae (Oldboy, Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area) as Jo Heon, a ruthless detective committed to stopping the vigilante at any cost
- Lee Junhyuk (Stranger, Designated Survivor: 60 Days) as Cho Kangok
- Kim Sojin (The Spy Gone North, The King) as Choi Miryeo, a broadcaster who exposes the Vigilante’s actions
Fans who enjoyed Moving, about a group of South Korean spies working to protect their super powered children from harm and exploitation at the hands of malicious government agencies, should certainly give Vigilante a try next month. The first two episodes air on November 8, 2023 on Hulu.
