Synopsis: On Call is an adrenalized and visceral police drama that follows a rookie and veteran officer duo as they go on patrol in Long Beach, California. 1. Sakamoto Days – Official Trailer

With a storyline reminiscent of The Way of the Househusband, the series about the yakuza member Immortal Dragon giving up a life of crime to become a stay-at-home husband, Sakamoto Days is about a legendary assassin becoming a convenience store owner. It really makes me wonder if Netflix’s anime ventures are leading to any reduction in crime. Is post-crime-cozy-living the new isekai?

Release Date: On Netflix on January 11, 2025

Synopsis: Taro Sakamoto used to be an unrivaled hitman, earning legendary status in the underworld. But one day, the unthinkable happened. Sakamoto fell in love. He started dating, retired, got married, and had a kid, growing overweight as a result. Though now working as a humble convenience store owner, the world of hitmen still follows him. Sakamoto, along with Shin, a young man with telepathy and an employee at his small store, will protect his humble life and family, or die trying.

This film looks like it will be a heart-wrenching glimpse into America’s past in a tale that is sure to remind audiences of the immigrant journey and hopefully impart us all with more empathy, compassion, and human decency.
