  1. Marvel Animation’s Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man – Official Trailer

The upcoming animated series, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, features an art style that feels incredibly retro and classic as it reminds audiences of the character’s original appearance in the pages of comics. However, it does take place in the modern age with the prevalent use of mobile phones and social media. And what most excites me about the series, is the opportunity to see a new take on Norman Osborn, especially one who proudly hangs a portrait of himself with Captain America.

Release Date: On Disney+ on January 29, 2025

Synopsis: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming a hero, with a journey unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots.

  1. Mo: Season 2 – Official Trailer

I remember my first time watching the comedic stylings of Mo Amer as an opener for Dave Chapelle. I thought he was hilarious as well as sharp as he weaved humor into his experiences as a Palestinian American, such as performing for the troops in Afghanistan years ago. You can imagine how the climate may have been tense for him. But he delivered a punchline that just killed. So for me to see him not only creating, directing, producing, and starring in his own series, I’m pretty damn happy. Especially knowing that it has a season 2 coming out at the end of this month.

Release Date: On Netflix on January 30, 2025

Synopsis: Mo Najjar straddles the line between two cultures, three languages and a ton of bullshit as a Palestinian on the path to U.S. citizenship. Season 2 finds Mo stranded across the border and desperate to get back to Houston before his family’s asylum hearing – but as a stateless refugee without a passport, he’s gonna need all the hustle and charm he can muster. Little does he know that the journey home is just the start of his troubles, and there’s a new guy in town ready to steal both his longtime love Maria and his dream of finally returning to Palestine.

  1. Love Me – Official Trailer

This Steven Yeun-Kristen Stewart is a film I’ve been looking forward to seeing since learning about it at last year’s Sundance Film Festival, but was unfortunately unable to catch any of the screenings. I’m really looking forward to seeing the ways the filmmakers behind Love Me utilizes different forms of media such as live-action and animation to tell this story of connection after mankind’s end as a buoy and a satellite are “becoming who we are.”

Release Date: In theaters on January 31, 2025

Synopsis: Long after humanity’s extinction, a buoy (Kristen Stewart) and a satellite (Steven Yeun) inherit the Earth, and with only the internet as their guide, learn what it means to be alive and in love.

  1. Death Of A Unicorn – Official Trailer

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a unicorn film quite like this before. Normally, stories with unicorn are meant to be for children and full of fantasy and wonder. Death Of A Unicorn briefly leans into the mystical properties associated with these creatures such as their horns and being a possible cure to unsolved ailments, and then subverts the story by veering into the strange and weird as well as basically fear.

Release Date: In theaters in Spring 2025

Synopsis: A father (Paul Rudd) and daughter (Jenna Ortega) accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat, where his billionaire boss (Richard E. Grant) seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties.
