What’s New Wednesday is Dorkaholics’ way to keep us all up to date with what’s new across comics, TV, film, games, and more! This week, the focus is on The Hunting Party, Deli Boys, The Electric State, and Dan Da Dan.

  1. The Hunting Party – Teaser Trailer

Now with the word party in a title for a series on NBC, one might mistakenly assume this will be another fun, family comedy series, but guess again. The Hunting Party is a crime series that will feature a team on the hunt for serial killers who have escaped from a secret prison.

Release Date: On NBC at 10pm on February 3, 2025

Synopsis: When a secret prison suffers a mysterious explosion that allows the nation’s most violent serial killers to escape, a former profiler is thrust back into a thrilling game of cat and mouse. Alongside a team of soldiers, spies and special agents, she has no choice but to track down and recapture these dangerous criminals… before they kill again.  

  1. Deli Boys – First Look Photos

I’m excited for the Desi representation we’ll be getting from Deli Boys, which I first learned about at last year’s Sunrise Collective during Sundance. Two brothers stumbling into crime sounds like a comedic take on something akin to Breaking Bad

Synopsis: When their convenience store-magnate father suddenly dies, a pair of pampered Pakistani American brothers lose everything and are forced to reckon with their Baba’s secret life of crime as they attempt to take up his mantle in the underworld.

  1. The Electric State – Official Trailer

The full trailer for The Electric State gives a more thorough look into the world of this film, such as how robots are treated and used, as well as what it means for them to be sent to the titular Electric State. The soundtrack gives a feeling of unrelenting optimism and hope, despite bleak and dystopian visuals.

Release Date: On Netflix on March 14, 2025

Synopsis: Set in the aftermath of a robot uprising in an alternate version of the ’90s, The Electric State follows an orphaned teenager who ventures across the American West with a cartoon-inspired robot, a smuggler, and his sidekick in search of her younger brother.

  1. Dan Da Dan: Season 2 – Teaser Trailer

The teaser trailer for Dan Da Dan Season 2 highlights the threatening arrival of the Avatar of Hatred as we see the cast confront new characters such as Naki Kito and Evil Eye.

Release Date: On Crunchyroll, Hulu, Netflix in July 2025

Synopsis: Dan Da Dan follows Momo, a high school girl from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an occult geek. The two of them started talking after Momo rescued Okarun from getting bullied. However, an argument ensues between them – Momo believes in ghosts but denies aliens, and Okarun believes in aliens but denies ghosts. To make each other believe in what they denied the existence of, Momo goes to an abandoned hospital known for its UFO sightings, and Okarun goes to a tunnel that is said to be haunted. In each place, they encounter overwhelming paranormal entities that defy comprehension. Amid trouble, Momo awakens her hidden power and Okarun gains the power of a curse to challenge the paranormal entities! Could this be the start of a fateful romance as well!?
