Pop culture is a never-ending world of updates, teases, trailers, and hopefully releases. What’s New Wednesday is Dorkaholics’ way to keep us all up to date with what’s new across comics, TV, film, games, and more! This week, the focus is on With Love, Meghan, The Recruit, Zero Day, and Happy Gilmore 2.
- With Love, Meghan – Official Trailer
The Duchess of Sussex is producing With Love, Meghan, a Netflix series that will feature her approach to letting the people in her life know that she cares for them, from “moments that let them know [she] was thinking of them” such as making baking cakes, arranging flowers, and preparing treats in the kitchen. From the trailer, it looks like we’ll see donuts, bees, and familiar faces like Abigail Spencer (Suits, Extended Family) and Mindy Kaling (The Office, The Mindy Project).
Release Date: On Netflix on January 15, 2025 (8 episodes, 33 minutes per episode)
Synopsis: This inspiring series, produced by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, reimagines the genre of lifestyle programming, blending practical how-to’s and candid conversation with friends, new and old. Meghan shares personal tips and tricks, embracing playfulness over perfection and highlights how easy it can be to create beauty, even in the unexpected. She and her guests roll up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same.
- The Recruit Season Two – Official Trailer
Netflix isn’t just bringing us some of the best in Korean entertainment, they are taking their own series like The Recruit and setting it in Korea as well. And much applause to the people who not only decided on that but also decided to cast Teo Yoo (Past Lives). The trailer appropriately features Green Day’s American Idiot, two words that Teo’s character will probably be thinking frequently as he works with Noah Centineo’s character, the CIA lawyer Owen Hendricks.
Release Date: On Netflix on January 30, 2025
Synopsis: Season Two of The Recruit finds CIA Lawyer, Owen Hendricks (Noah Centineo), pulled into a life-threatening espionage situation in South Korea, only to realize that the bigger threat just might be coming from inside the Agency.
- Zero Day – Official Teaser
The dirty grandpa is now commander in chief?! Well a former president. The plot of Zero Day reminds me of what the country must have been like following 9/11, with government entities wielding more power than before as they attempt to prevent further tragedy at the expense of citizens. And for audiences who saw Civil War, Jesse Plemons is part of the cast. Hopefully, this time around his character won’t leave me feeling traumatized as a person of color working in the media.
Release Date: On Netflix on February 20, 2025
Synopsis: ZERO DAY is a limited series starring Robert De Niro as respected former U.S. President George Mullen, who, as head of the Zero Day Commission, is charged with finding the perpetrators of a devastating cyber attack that has caused chaos around the country and thousands of fatalities. As disinformation runs rampant and the personal ambition of power brokers in technology, Wall Street, and government collide, Mullen’s unwavering search for the truth forces him to confront his own dark secrets while risking all he holds dear.
- Happy Gilmore 2 – Teaser Trailer
Almost 20 years after one of the greatest sports films of the 90s (in my opinion), Adam Sandler and Christopher McDonald return as Gilmore and McGavin to compete again on the driving range.
Release Date: On Netflix in 2025
Synopsis: Happy Gilmore returns!
